2024: IDS Borjomi Russia sold Karachinskaya Zvezda LLC to businessman Yevgeny Gromchakov

In July 2024, IDS Borjomi Russia, associated with Alfa Group structures, sold mineral water production in the Novosibirsk Region. The new owner of Karachinskaya Zvezda LLC, which has Chistozerye water production facilities on its balance sheet, is local businessman Yevgeny Gromchakov.

According to Kommersant, the transaction was registered in early June 2024, when 100% of the shares of Karachinskaya Zvezda LLC became the property of Ust-Kamensky Trading House LLC. According to information from the Kartoteka.ru, 99% in this structure belongs to Evgeny Gromchakov, and 1% to Andrei Golodov.

Mineral water production sold to local businessman in Novosibirsk region

The estimated value of the transaction varies in the range of 60-65 million rubles. Alexey Voinov, director of Aqua-White, notes that usually the payback of a mineral water source is from three to five years.

The sale of the asset may be related to the desire of IDS Borjomi Russia to optimize its portfolio of brands and focus on the development of federal brands such as Holy Source. In addition, the decision to sell could be influenced by the fact that there is a strong competitor in the regional market - the Karachinsky Source company.

Karachinskaya Zvezda LLC was created in 2023 and owns a license to develop a mineral water well in the Chanovsky District of the Novosibirsk Region. The Chistozerye brand was originally owned by Clean Water, founded in 1998, which IDS Borjomi Russia acquired from developer Andrei Sharkov in 2017.

Against the background of this transaction, there is a general increase in sales in the water category in Russia. According to NielsenIQ, for the period from May 2023 to May 2024, water sales in physical terms increased by 11.1% compared to the previous same period. Demand for mineral water grew by 14.8%, and for tasteful water - by 54.7%.

At the same time, the restoration of water imports is noted. According to the CRPT, in the first quarter of 2024, 49.65 million liters of water were imported into Russia, which is 11% higher than the same period of the previous year.[1]
