2026: Company founder sentenced to 126 years in prison for spying on officials
On February 26, 2026, a Greek court in Athens sentenced the founder of Intellexa and three others to more than 126 years in prison each in a case involving a high-profile spyware scandal . About 90 people, including officials, became victims of surveillance.
This, according to The Record, is about using a software tool called Intellexa Predator. The defendants include Intellexa founder Tal Dilian, corporate services outsourcer Sara Hamou, former Intellexa deputy administrator Felix Bitzios and Yiannis Lavranos, owner of Krikel. The latter, allegedly, was engaged in the supply of the mentioned software for surveillance.
The Predator tool allows you to gain unauthorized access to various information, as well as to the camera and microphone of the device. According to the case file, this software was actively used to illegally collect information in 2020-2021. Among the victims are a prominent financial journalist, opposition politicians, government ministers, intelligence officials and prosecutors.
The defendants in the investigation deny their guilt, but the Greek court found them guilty of several counts related to illegal access to private communication systems and violation of privacy and data protection laws. Despite the fact that each of the accused faces 126 years in prison, they will formally serve only eight, which is the upper limit for minor offenses to which their acts are attributed. It is reported that the sentences will be appealed and the defendants will remain at large until the appeal process is completed.[1]
