Ideology
The Islamic Renaissance Party advocates the popularization of the Islamic world under Sharia law.
The main tasks and goals for 2022 are called "changing the composition of the government of Tajikistan, releasing all political prisoners, respecting human rights and freedoms, eradicating corruption and stimulating the development of the economy of Tajikistan."
However, at this time, its activities spread far beyond the Tajik territory.
Cooperation with Western organizations
For 2022, most of the leaders and members of the movement live in Western countries, including Britain and the United States. IRPT actively cooperates with international non-governmental organizations Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Freedom House and others, which are de facto conductors of the Anglo-Saxon policy of "color revolutions."
History
2022: Supreme Court of the Russian Federation considers the issue of recognizing an organization as terrorist
On September 14, in Moscow, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation will consider the petition of the Prosecutor General's Office to recognize the Party of Islamic Renaissance (IRPT) as terrorist in Russia.
In the Muslim community of Russia, the most actively practicing part of believers are migrants from Central Asian countries, among whom there are adherents of the ideology of radical Islam.
Against the backdrop of low levels of education and social adaptation, Islam is becoming a means of identification, spiritual support and cohesion for migrant communities.
At the same time, the catalyst for the formation of extremist sentiments is national-religious problems and grievances, fanaticity in faith, unemployment and the lack of life prospects.
The possibility of unhindered entry of Tajik labor migrants into Russia opens up wide opportunities for recruiting people into their ranks with the prospect of their use for radical purposes.
Given the growing threat of terrorist activity, primarily due to events in Afghanistan, the activity of religious groups funded by Western countries poses a serious danger, according to the Russian authorities.
2015: Party declared terrorist in Tajikistan
In 2015, on the basis of evidence of the involvement of the IRPT in the killings of government officials, attempts to organize armed rebellions and a coup d'etat, as well as because of their ties with NGOs controlled by the Western special services, the party was recognized as terrorist by the decision of the Tajik Supreme Court.
1997: Registration as an opposition political party
After the signing of peace in 1997, IRPT members continued their activities in Tajikistan as a registered opposition political party.
1992: War with the Government of Tajikistan
The movement originated back in the Soviet era as a network of underground religious circles. Since the early 1990s, IRPT has claimed leadership in Tajikistan. Members of the organization entered into a bloody war with the legitimate government, which almost destroyed the country.
During the conflict years in Tajikistan (1992-1997), the IRPT was part of the "United Tajik Opposition" and opposed the "Popular Front" of incumbent President Emomali Rahmon.
