2023: Executives of Russian "daughter" Johnson Matthey bought it out

The leaders of the Russian subsidiary of the world's largest manufacturer of automotive catalysts Johnson Matthey bought it. This became known on August 18, 2023.

As Kommersant writes with reference to the data of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (USRUL), the Russian Johnson Matthey Johnson Matti Krasnoyarsk plant has been owned by Catalysts and Technologies LLC since the end of June 2023. The publication also cites data from the SPARK-Interfax system, according to which the Catalysts and Technologies company was created at the end of November 2022, 33.3% each from Johnson Matti Krasnoyarsk CEO Leonid Rakitin, Johnson Matthey commercial director in the Russian Federation Andrei Kosov and financial controller Vadim Nevenchenko.

The last published Johnson Matthey report for the fiscal year by August 2023 (ended March 31, 2023) states that the company closed its office in Moscow, stopped commercial activities in Russia and suspended production at the Krasnoyarsk plant. At the same time, the report does not contain data on the sale of Russian assets.

According to the publication, production at the former Krasnoyarsk Johnson Matthey plant is planned to resume. According to experts, Russia has a base of raw materials for production, but the production of machines in the country has greatly decreased, there are also questions about intellectual rights to technology.

A catalytic converter (s) is a device in an exhaust system that is designed to reduce the amount of harmful and toxic substances in the exhaust gases.

Dmitry Babansky from SBS Consulting calls the plant in Krasnoyarsk an interesting asset: he points out that the enterprise's capacity is designed for 1 million catalytic converters per year, next to the plant there are suppliers of raw materials (Krastsvetmet).^[1]
