2024: Attracting 10 million rubles of investments
In May 2024, it became known about investing 10 million rubles in K-Plus. The company attracted funds from private investors with the help of the Energotechnohab Petersburg startup development ecosystem.
Polina Morozova, a junior researcher at the Skoltech Center for Energy Technologies, co-founder of the startup, said that the money received would be used to purchase equipment and attract employees to scale production.
According to the press service of Skoltech, after concluding an agreement with the investor, the value of K-Plus is estimated at 100 million rubles.
By May 2024, K-Plus is the only company in Russia with patented technologies for creating potassium-ion batteries that can become cheaper and more durable than widespread lithium and lead counterparts.
According to the developers from K-Plus, due to the significant reduction in the cost of battery components, the price of a stored unit of energy of 1 Wh/kg is twice as cheap as the lithium-ion analogue, however, due to the greater weight of the materials used, the potassium-ion battery is suitable only for stationary energy storage or large systems such as forklifts and other heavy vehicles.
In 2024, the startup entered into an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation with Dubna University, and also developed the concept of the production line, choosing the equipment that will be needed to scale.
It is noted that the startup product is interested in enterprises of the energy industry and solutions for the private sector, for example, to equalize the peak of electricity consumption and provide electrical infrastructure.[1]
