Kazan Networks — the American company founded in 2014 which is engaged in development of technologies of data storage for data centers. The startup specializes in the solutions allowing to connect a storage system using the NVMe over Fabrics interface (NVMe-oF). In assortment of the producer the Onyx adapter which allows to connect directly an array of the drives NVMe to network by means of the NVMe-oF interface that allows to reduce energy consumption is provided, to reduce delays in signal transmission and to raise system performance in general.

2019: Western Digital purchased Kazan Networks
In September, 2019 Western Digital announced Kazan Networks acquisition, but did not begin to call how much this transaction cost to the company. At the time of sale Kazan Networks attracted in total $4.5 million investments, including from Western Digital.
Under the terms of the agreement, all personnel of Kazan Networks passed into Western Digital. The clause of the contract is not announced others.
It is supposed that Western Digital will use technologies of the absorbed startup in the drives IntelliFlash JBOF and component and disaggregated infrastructures (CDI, Composable-Disaggregated Infrastructures) within the OpenFlex family.
Purchase of Kazan Networks should strengthen the leading positions of Western Digital in the field of infrastructure of disaggregated data and accelerate promotion of new platforms of NVMe-oF with support CDI, optimized for hyper scalable applications of new generation, the press release says.
Close integration of specialized controllers and technologies of data storage is crucial for implementation of all advantages of the advanced matrix architecture of the next generation, including decrease in energy consumption, performance improvement and reduction of costs — the CEO of Kazan Networks of Margie Evashenk said, commenting on the transaction with Western Digital.[1] |
