2024: Transfer of business in Russia under local management with the right to repurchase within 2 years
In April 2024, Knauf announced that it "wants to transfer all business in Russia, including raw material extraction, production and sales, to local management in order to save jobs for more than 4,000 employees in the future."
In June 2024, it was announced that Knauf had transferred the Russian business to local management with a buyback option within two years.
2022: Hacker attack, product supply issues
On June 29, 2022, Knauf's computer network was attacked by hackers. The relevant information appeared on the official website of the Russian representative office of the German manufacturer of building materials.
According to Knauf, the information security system deployed at the company "immediately responded" to the cyber attack, which made it possible to localize the threat and prevent the infection of networks of Knauf enterprises in many regions, including Russia.
At the same time, for security reasons, it was decided to temporarily suspend the work of all services. At the same time, active restoration and preventive work is underway, and the technical examination of the incident continues, the company said in a statement. |
Knauf apologized for the inconvenience and delays in the supply of products that arose due to the cyber attack. The company promised to inform about the restoration of the performance of all systems, but by July 4, 2022 did not do this - at least there is no such information on the official website of the manufacturer of building materials.
In March 2022, Knauf announced its decision to keep work on the Russian market, despite the departure of a large number of other foreign companies that decided to leave the Russian Federation against the backdrop of a Russian special operation in Ukraine.
We remain in Russia as long as the political and commercial situation allows us to do so. We are unequivocally responsible for more than 4,000 employees and their families, as well as customers and suppliers, many of whom we have had excellent and long-standing relationships with over the years, Knauf said in March 2022.[1] |
