2024: Lukoil will build a data center at the Konakovskaya state district power station near Tver
At the end of November 2024, it became known that Lukoil was starting to create a data processing center with an area of 3 thousand square meters on the territory of the Konakovskaya state district power station in the Tver region. The project provides for the creation of 20 jobs for highly qualified IT specialists.
According to Interfax, the new center will be located at the site of the power plant, which is part of the EL5-Energo enterprise, whose shareholder is Lukoil. To provide the center with personnel, it is planned to organize training of specialists in educational institutions of the Konakovsky district.
Konakovskaya GRES is one of the key suppliers of electricity and heat in the region. The station is located on the banks of the Volga in the city of Konakovo and is one of the largest energy facilities in the region.
According to the publication, in October 2022, the Italian energy holding Enel completed a deal to sell 56.43% of the shares of Enel Russia. As a result, Lukoil received a 26.9% stake, and AAA Capital Management, a trustee of the Gazprombank Freesia fund, acquired 29.5% of the shares.
Lukoil is developing two large industrial facilities in the Tver region: Konakovskaya GRES and the production of lubricants in Torzhok. The creation of a data center will be a new line of business for the company in the region.
The project is being implemented as part of a program for the development of digital infrastructure and an increase in data processing capacity in Russia. The use of the existing power plant site will ensure reliable power supply to the future center.
The launch of the new data center will expand the ability to store and process data in the region, as well as create additional jobs for specialists in the field of information technology.[1]
