2020: Alexander Mamut sells the company to the Italian holding Leonardo for $185 million
In January, 2020 it became known that Lynwood Investments related to Alexander Mamut sold 100% of shares of the manufacture of the Kopter helicopters to the Italian machine-building holding Leonardo. Transaction amount was $185 million.
Within the transaction of Leonardo will pay Lynwood Investments a fixed amount in $185 million. It will be the first part of payment, in future Lynwood Investments also additional resources in the volume determined taking into account indicators of activity of the company (earnout) will be paid. Closing of the transaction as specified in Leonardo, depends on certain conditions and, as expected, will take place in the first quarter 2020.
The CEO of Leonardo Alessandro Profumo said that thanks to this purchase the company purchases the innovative technologies which will add already available and also will promote that Leonardo was in vanguard of innovations and competitiveness, at the same time saving the financial stability[1].
The CEO of Kopter Andreas Lewenstein, commenting on the transaction, told that merge to so large player in the market of helicopter engineering will give to the company support in an issue of further development.
2018: Renaming into Kopter Group
The company received the name of Kopter Group AG in 2018.
2009: Foundation of Marenco SwissHelicopter company
Kopter which is based in Switzerland was founded in 2009. Initially it was called Marenco SwissHelicopter. The main development of the company is the single-engine light SKYe SH09 helicopter.
