2024: A criminal case has been opened on fraud in the supply of an X-ray scanner for ₽4,7 million

In the Oryol region, a criminal case was initiated on the fact of fraud in the supply of an X-ray diagnostic complex to the Livenskaya Central District Hospital. Information on illegal actions that caused damage to the regional budget in the amount of more than ₽4,7 million was published on October 1, 2024 according to the results of a prosecutor's check.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, the Livenskaya Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office of the Oryol Region conducted an audit of the implementation of legislation as part of the implementation of the national project "Healthcare." During the audit, violations were revealed in the execution of the contract concluded in July 2021 between the budget healthcare institution and the individual entrepreneur.

The investigation established that the contractor provided the customer with acts containing false information about the inflated cost of equipment. This led to unreasonable spending of budget funds on an especially large scale. Based on the results of the consideration of the materials of the prosecutor's check, the investigating authorities opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).

The prosecutor's office of the Oryol region notes that this case is not an isolated one. Currently, law enforcement agencies are investigating six more criminal cases related to the supply of medical equipment to healthcare institutions in the region at inflated prices.

The effective spending of budget funds allocated for the implementation of national projects is under the special control of the prosecutor's office. We will continue to suppress any attempts to steal public funds, especially in such an important area as healthcare, "said Deputy Prosecutor General of Russia Andrei Kikot.

The investigation of all detected cases of fraud in the supply of medical equipment is under the control of the regional prosecutor's office. Law enforcement agencies continue to work to identify and suppress such crimes aimed at stealing budget funds in the healthcare sector.^[1]
