2023: Shutdown due to ransomware virus

In mid-April 2023, the German shipbuilding company Lurssen Werft, one of the contractors of the German army and the manufacturer of the world's largest superyachts, fell victim to hackers during the Easter holidays. A company spokesman confirmed the hacker attack and announced that it was carried out using a ransomware virus.

The attack brought major Lurssen Werft shipyards in Bremen to a standstill, according to local news outlet Buten un Binnen, which first reported the incident. Not a single hacker group of hackers has yet claimed responsibility.
