2016: Investments into $11.5 million from Medtronic and other companies
In October, 2016 MD Start announced receiving investments in the amount of $11.5 million which will go for creation and financing of activity of four French developers of the medical equipment.
Investment round MD Start headed the French Tech Acceleration Fund managed by the French bank Bpifrance. Besides, the producer of the medical equipment Medtronic, Sofinnova Partners venture capital company and the British developer of devices for needs of health care of LivaNova took part in the financial transaction.
The raised funds through MD Start II fund will be transferred to four producers of medical equipment which will develop and be controlled partners in an accelerator.
MD Start II is not the next fund and not the next incubator. MD Start II at the same time is a subject of business activity and also an incubator and the investor — the partner MD Start explains to Anne Osdoit. — We have a strategic and essential practical approach to implementation of the innovation ideas in medical realities at permanent dialog and cooperation with inventors of medical technologies. |
The majority of the American accelerators grow up startups no more than within three months. At MD Start this period is much more — two-three years. Besides, the European accelerator shows big activity in daily management of portfolio companies.[1]
