2020: Interkomtel purchased "MTT Connection"

On August 11, 2020 it became known of sale of the last asset of MTT in the market of services of the home Internet and paid TV — MTT Connection company. It was purchased by the Ivanovo operator "Interkomtel".

About the transaction Kommersant was told by the representative of MTT. It did not begin to open a financial component of the agreement.

We accepted strategy within which decided to focus on the direction of cloud communications, to restructure business and to get rid of non-core assets — the representative of MTT explained to the newspaper.

According to him, business in the field of services of house broadband access (broadband access) to the Internet is not interesting to the company owing to the market reasons any more. MTT decided to place emphasis in the market of cloud products in a segment of virtual PBX, virtual mobile communication and telecom platforms for the corporate sector.

As notes the edition, once MTT was a noticeable player of the market of the home wire Internet and was going to occupy it for 10%. However since 2015 the company sells such assets. The operator winds down also other projects among which — development of an ecosystem of Internet of Things together with AiTeco Group.

According to the CEO of the information and analytical agency TelecomDaily Denis Kuskov, sale of "MTT Connection" was expected as several years of MTT stakes on other projects. The expert estimates the transaction less than at $1 billion.

MTT Konnekt LLC works in Ivanovo and around it. According to own data, the Internet service provider has about 7 thousand subscribers, including corporate (by August, 2020). The competition in the ShPD Ivanovo market is high, there are also Rostelecom and MegaFon, and the main objective of the buyer of MTT Konnekt — Interkomtel — will be preserving of a subscriber base and increase in loyalty against the background of market stagnation, Denis Kuskov noted.^[1]
