2022: Doctor's sentence to correctional labor for charging patients money
The Magadan City Court sentenced the doctor of the local regional hospital to correctional labor for charging money from patients. This was announced on September 21, 2022 by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.
According to the investigation, the 33-year-old health worker convinced three patients to refuse free surgery and pay for the intervention from personal funds. He motivated this by the fact that in this case better medical equipment will be used and a positive result will be guaranteed. Misled patients handed over a total of 65 thousand rubles to the doctor.
The actions of the health worker are qualified by the court as fraud with significant damage to citizens. During the investigation, the stolen money was returned voluntarily.
The court sentenced the doctor to one year of correctional labor with a deduction of 10% of the salary to state income. The verdict entered into legal force, the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Magadan Region reported on September 21, 2022.
At the end of April 2022, the investigation of the criminal case against the urologist of the regional hospital, who is accused of fraud and two crimes with causing significant damage, was completed. Then it was clarified that in September 2021, the accused misled the mother of one of his patients, saying deliberately false information that the endoscopic operation required by her daughter was a paid service. The woman paid him 25 thousand rubles, but in fact the operation was carried out under the compulsory medical insurance policy.
During the investigation of the criminal case, additional episodes of fraud were identified. In connection with this circumstance, the investigation initiated two more criminal cases against the defendant, all cases were later combined in one proceeding.[1]
