2023: Development of technology to determine the origin of grapes in wine
Russia has developed technology to determine the place of origin of grapes in wine. Vladimir Likhovskoy, director of the All-Russian National Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking "Magarach" of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Republic of Crimea), spoke about this development in November 2023.
We have found technology... that will determine which village this grape and wine is from, "he clarified (quoted by TASS), adding that it is not planned to disclose details yet," so that no one will steal this idea from us. " |
The Magarach Institute was founded in 1828 by decree of Nicholas I for the development of winemaking. By November 2023, this scientific center is engaged in the entire process of creating wine - from growing grapes to producing products. In 2022, they began selling grape seedlings from their own nursery. The institute has 892 strains of microorganisms that play an important role in winemaking.[1]
