2025: Moscow court arrested Tecnimont assets for 203 billion rubles at the suit of Eurochem
On November 5, 2025, it became known that the Arbitration Court Moscow arrested the assets of the Italian engineering corporation Tecnimont and its Russian subsidiary MT Russia at the suit of Severo-Zapad-2 EuroChem LLC (EKSZ-2) for 203 billion rubles. The process is related to a project to build an ammonia and urea plant in Kingisepp (). Leningrad Oblast
According to TASS, in June 2020, Eurochem and Tecnimont entered into an agreement for the design and construction of the specified enterprise. The total amount of the agreements was €393 million and $642.8 million, and it was planned to complete the work in August 2023. But in May 2022, Tecnimont, against the background of the emerging geopolitical situation, suspended the fulfillment of obligations under the contract. As a result, Eurochem announced the termination of contracts "due to the actual refusal of contractors to fulfill their obligations" and demanded a refund of an advance of €380 million.
In early September 2025, Eurochem filed a lawsuit for 202.7 billion rubles against MT Russia, whose sole shareholder is Tecnimont. Eurochem expects to recover from the defendants losses caused by the termination of contracts for the construction of the plant, as well as unearned advance payments and interest for the use of funds. As part of this process, the court arrested the assets of Tecnimont and MT Russia within about 9.5 billion rubles.
