2023: Launch of hemp seed processing plant - for gingerbread and bread

At the end of October 2023, the Makosh company launched an enterprise in the Tula region for deep processing of food hemp seeds. According to the executive director of the enterprise, Vladimir Abaryshev, this is the largest plant of its kind in Europe.

In general, there are about five such plants in Europe, and the largest of them, in Estonia, processes up to 5 thousand tons of raw materials per year. Thus, the hemp seed processing plant launched in the Tula region is the largest not only in Russia, but also in Europe, the press service of the National Technological Platform (NTI) said.

As Abaryshev said in a conversation with RIA Novosti, the products produced at the factory (located in the Uzlovaya special economic zone) will be used in confectionery, toppings, cookies, gingerbread, ice cream, vegetable drinks, bars, grain bread, sauces and protein production. Among the products of the enterprise are purified hemp kernels, hemp flour, cold-pressed oil, water-soluble hemp protein concentrate, hemp fiber, hemp vegetable drink.

About 1 billion rubles were invested in this project. It is noted that 90% of the installed equipment is Russian, all raw materials, including hemp seeds, are completely domestic. It is planned to reach the maximum processing capacity of 20 thousand tons per year within a three-year period - with the development of the market; plans include export of products.

We are actually shaping the market from scratch, after forgetting at more than 60 years old. In the thirties of the last century, the sown area of ​ ​ food hemp reached one million hectares, and now only about 12 thousand hectares are grown. Our mission is to revive this original Russian agricultural culture with a centuries-old history, - said Abaryshev.[1]
