Mate Academy is an online educational platform for studying programming. The company was founded by Ukrainians Max Lysak, Anna Apostol and Roman Apostol. Among the platform courses are Java, Frond-end, Full Stack Web, UI/UX Design. The difference between Mate Academy and many competing projects is that students pay tuition only after employment. Its cost is 17% of the salary after employment for two years (data for November 2021). Training lasts four months.

History

2021: Attracting $2 million investment

In November 2021, it became known about the investment of $1.9 million in Mate Academy. The online platform for studying programming received funds from the co-founders of Bolt, Wise (Transferwise), Teleport and Pipedrive.

The Horizon Capital Fund and existing investors, TA Ventures and Flyer One Ventures, also participated in the funding round. These investors invested in a Ukrainian startup in 2019. How many investors bought out and at what valuation the investment passed is not reported.

The Mate Academy team intends to spend the funds raised on business expansion in the USA and Poland.

Ukrainian IT training service Mate Academy attracted $2 million investment

It is noted that after the sowing round in 2019, when the startup raised $580 000, the revenue of Mate Academy increased 20 times. In 2021, the online academy has 1300 employed students and 60 employees.

Mate Academy does not disclose financial indicators, but the company by mid-November 2021 has about 1000-1200 current contracts, says Roman Apostol, head of the online school. This allows you to estimate monthly revenue of about $200 000. There were no students who refused to pay and did not reach the court, he added.[1]
