2022: Sending the creators of the financial pyramid to the colony
The creators of the financial pyramid "MedPharm," who collected money from Russians under the guise of investing in medicine, will go to the colony. This was announced in early November 2022 by the joint press service of the judicial system of the Tyumen region.
The court found that in July 2020, Roman Erofeev and Dmitry Zhuravlev organized the activities of the MedPharm PC, the subject of which was to attract funds from citizens under the guise of investing in medicine and pharmacology, the interest from which significantly exceeded banking. The total amount of funds stolen from the victims amounted to almost 15 million rubles.
At the hearing, the defendants pleaded guilty to the crime in full, repented of what they had done. Several victims of men in pre-trial procedure voluntarily reimbursed 900 thousand rubles. As a result, the court sentenced them: Erofeev in the form of 4 years in prison, Zhuravlev in the form of 3 years 6 months in prison, with serving a sentence in a general regime correctional colony.
The civil claims of the victims to recover material damage from the convicts are satisfied in full, with the exception of the money that has already been reimbursed.
PC "MedPharm" was registered in the Moscow region and operated in 18 regions of Russia. The Central Bank blacklisted the company, seeing in its activities the signs of a financial pyramid: potential clients were guaranteed income with payments of up to 22% per annum without any risk. The Central Bank did not have information about the implementation of the MedPharm PC of any real investment activity that could provide the organization with income to pay interest in this amount. According to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, pensioners were the main audience of the MedPharm PC, and they bribed them with promises that investments were being made to develop domestic analogues of foreign drugs. The scammers did accents in advertising to the benefit that depositors bring to society - allegedly, thanks to their contributions, prices for Russian medicines are reduced, and grandchildren can be spoiled from the income they receive.[1]
