In 1998 in Yekaterinburg the first retail store opened, and quickly enough the Merchant brand became known and recognizable. Since then from small wholesale and retail company "Kupets" turned into large trade consolidation, one of leaders in the market of food retail of the Ural region. Trade in food and various products of own production (salads, snack, ready dishes, semi-finished products of high degree of readiness, meat and fish delicacies, bread and pastries, confectionery) was and remains the main activity of the company. However during operating time the company mastered also other types of trade (industrial goods), productions and services (public catering).

Such rapid growth was not known by any trading company of Yekaterinburg. For quite short term Kupets could gain the lead not only city and regional, but also all-Russian level. The national trade association repeatedly recognized Kupets retail network of the best in the region of the Urals, Siberia and Far East. � network of Kupets grocery stores (44 outlets) in Yekaterinburg, Kamensk-Uralsky, Magnitogorsk, Pervouralsk, Bogdanovich, the settlements of Reftinsky. Kupets shops are provided in three formats:

• Shopping centers (hypermarket);

• Supermarkets;

• Shops at the House (close proximity, convienience store).

"Merchant" uses the centralized system architecture of GESTORI Pro from FIT company which allows to obtain instantly information on sales and stocks, to manage a remote object from the central office in Yekaterinburg – in the same way as other shops of network.
