2025: Unifrost buys Meridian, valued at ₽7 billion

The supplier of fish and seafood "Unifrost" buys the Meridian group of companies specializing in the production of preserves and ready-made dishes, as part of a transaction worth up to ₽7 billion, taking into account debt obligations. This became known on August 4, 2025.

According to Kommersant, Unifrost LLC applied to the FAS with a petition to acquire 100% shares in three legal entities of the Meridian group: Meridian JSC, Meridian Trading House LLC and Meridian-Trading LLC. The transaction procedures are under implementation.

The head of the M&A department of BGP Capital, Ivan Peshkov, estimated the value of the business of the Meridian group of companies in the range of ₽5-7 billion, taking into account debt obligations. Meridian representatives expect the transaction to be completed several months after obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.

The acquisition will allow Unifrost to significantly strengthen its position in key segments of the fish products market. According to sources in the fish market, the share of the combined company will be up to 60% in the crab stick segment and 35-40% in the preserves market.

Unifrost has been operating since 2004 as one of the largest suppliers of fish and seafood with its head office in St. Petersburg. The sole owner of the company is Anna Romanova, under whose leadership the business demonstrates a dynamic growth in financial indicators.

The volume of shipments of Unifrost in 2023 amounted to 80 thousand tons, according to information on the corporate website. In 2024, the company significantly expanded its business perimeter by buying out the Agama group of companies, a large producer of fish, seafood and frozen vegetables under the Agama and Bay of Abundance brands.

Unifrost could also act as the acquirer of the Russian assets of the Lithuanian Viciunai Group, the manufacturer of crab sticks Vici. At the beginning of 2024, the company's local structures moved to the perimeter of the Ocean Group management company, which could act in the interests of Unifrost^[1]
