Preparation for the launch of a single prosthetics center

State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Anna Tsivileva in October 2024 announced the creation of a single prosthetics center on the basis of the S.M. Kirov. The center will begin its work on January 1, 2025 and will ensure the prompt supply of the necessary prostheses to regional centers for the full rehabilitation of military personnel.

As forwarded, TASS the new structure is created in order to improve the availability and quality of prosthetics, as well as the functional adaptation of military personnel who have received severe injuries with amputation of limbs. The Russian Ministry of Defense is preparing to conclude contracts for the provision of relevant services.

Anna Tsivileva stressed that the creation of a single center will provide military personnel with high-quality prostheses and provide them with the opportunity to undergo training in the use of prostheses in their regions. This will greatly simplify the rehabilitation process and increase its effectiveness.

The project is considering the possibility of involving regional institutions for prosthetics of military personnel and their functional adaptation in stationary conditions. In particular, it is planned to use the Donetsk Republican Prosthetic and Orthopedic Center and the Lugansk Prosthetic Plant State Unitary Enterprise.

The head of the Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin announced the readiness of the local center to conclude a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. He noted that production facilities allow the provision of prosthetics services to military personnel not only from the DPR, but also from other regions.

In addition, Pushilin turned to Anna Tsivileva with a request to support the Ambrose rehabilitation center, in which active servicemen and veterans of a special military operation are being rehabilitated.^[1]

Arrest of deputy chief on charges of fraud

At the end of January 2024, the Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow arrested the deputy head of the S.M. Pavla Veshkina Kirova Military Medical Academy. He is suspected of fraud related to the theft of tens of millions of rubles. Read more here.
