Appointment of Venedikt Suvorov as head of the Ministry of Digital Development of Mari El

At the end of December 2022, the head of Mari El, Yury Zaytsev, signed a decree appointing Venedikt Suvorov as Minister of Digital Development of the region. Prior to that, he headed the department of informatization and communications of the republic. Read more here.

Name change

The head of Mari El, Yury Zaytsev, at the end of October 2022 signed a decree on the transformation of the regional Department of Informatization and Communications into the Ministry of Digital Development. The main tasks of the department are:

Building of the Ministry of Digital Development of Mari El

• development and implementation of a unified state policy in the field of informatization and communications on the territory of the Republic of Mari El;
• the formation and development of a set of information systems that contribute to the organization of interdepartmental electronic interaction between the executive authorities of the Republic of Mari El and local self-government bodies, as well as the provision of state and municipal services in electronic form on the territory of the Republic of Mari El on the basis of the unified information and communication infrastructure of the Republic of Mari El;
• creation and development of e-government in the Republic of Mari El;
• formation and implementation of a unified policy aimed at ensuring information security in the development and operation of information systems of executive authorities of the Republic of Mari El, including personal data information systems.^[1]

2010-2011

The Department of Informatization and Communications of the Republic of Mari El was formed, according to the decree of the President of the Republic, in October 2010. Then the Department was transferred the functions of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Mari El in the field of informatization, communications, the introduction of information technologies and the development of the information society in the region. On January 1, 2011, Venedikt Suvorov was appointed its head of the department.
