Ministry of information technologies and communications of Sverdlovsk region

In 2011 in comparison with a similar indicator of 2010 in Sverdlovsk region the investment volume into the industries supervised by the ministry of information technologies and communications grew twice. The share of investments in the total amount of investments increased from 7 to 11%, reported on the website of the government of Sverdlovsk region.

According to the forecast of the ministry at the end of 2011 the investment volume into the industry can reach 20 billion rubles. Growth of investments into the industry happened generally thanks to investment activities of private companies. It is caused by modernization, in particular - upon transition by operators to new generation of cellular communication (3G). The state investments were aimed at the development of infrastructure of the electronic government, a mail service and also digital television.

The minister of information technologies and communication of Sverdlovsk region Irina Bogdanovich notes positive trends in information technology development in the region. According to her business focused on creation of the commercial centers of data processing (CDP), start-up the movement very actively grows, in Yekaterinburg the first regional venture fund - Red Button which on an equal basis with foreign investors gets acquainted with IT projects of the industry is created.

In addition to funds of investment into development of the Ural IT Cluster in 2011 also development of Sverdlovsk region, to obtaining the statuses of residents of Skolkovo Foundation by the IT companies arrived thanks to program implementation of management of development of a small and medium entrepreneurship of the ministry of investments.

The minister emphasizes growth of interest of younger generation in an information technology sphere. The record quantity of commands participated in the Ural regional Olympic Games of school students on programming if in 2009 25 commands, in 2010 - 63 commands participated in the Olympic Games, then last year 102 commands participated in the Olympic Games already. More than 200 students of the highest and average professional educational institutions of Sverdlovsk region submitted applications for participation in the international Olympic Games in the field of information technologies "IT Planet" of 2011-12.

Last year students URFA took the fourth place at data protection competitions in Las Vegas and became the bronze prize-winner in the programming World Cup in Orlando. In May, 2012 in Warsaw Sverdlovsk region together with URFA is going to submit the application for carrying out in 2016 in Yekaterinburg of the World Cup in programming.

As Irina Bogdanovich reported, at the moment access to digital television has 75% of the population of Sverdlovsk region. By 2013 within the federal target program "Development of TV and Radio Broadcasting in the Russian Federation", this indicator will increase to 98.8%. In 2011-13 the investment volume of Federal State Unitary Enterprise RTRS for implementation of this project in the territory of Sverdlovsk region will be about 1.5 billion rubles.
