Andrey Mayorov who was earlier holding a position of the Deputy Minister of Transport, road economy and digital development of the Novgorod region is appointed the minister of digital development and information and communication technologies of the Novgorod region. Education

On April 27, 2020 the Ministry of Transport, road economy and digital development of the Novgorod region was transformed to the Ministry of digital development and information and communication technologies and the Ministry of Transport and Road Facilities. The relevant decree was issued by the governor of the Novgorod region Andrey Nikitin. The neogenic ministries had to begin the work on July 1, 2020. The government of the region reported about it on April 29, 2020.

The ministry of digital development and information and communication technologies will be a coordinator of digital transformation of executive authorities of area within implementation of departmental federal programs of digital transformation. It will continue work on increase in efficiency of electronic interaction of citizens and the organizations with executive authorities and local government authorities of area by means of implementation of best practices and platform solutions.

The ministry should execute a number of the actions directed to quality improvement of providing the public and municipal services and ensuring their availability in the territory of the Novgorod region, mainly, due to rendering services electronically. Information security support and information technical protection of the state information resources of the Novgorod region will become a new vector of activity of department.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Novgorod region Stanislav Shultsev supervising the IT industry in the region, the ministry of digital development and information and communication technologies should promote digital transformation of priority branches of the economy and the social sphere of the region, provide creation of conditions for implementation in them digital technologies and platform solutions, taking into account the priorities designated by the Russian President Vladimir Putin and provisions of the national program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation" approved in 2017.

The latest events connected with need of use of digital technologies for the organization of remote technologies of training, creation of remote jobs, receiving other remote services in the period of coronavirus epidemic in practice showed the importance of development of digital competences of citizens and implementation of digital technologies to spheres of business. Development of digital competences of the citizens necessary for their personal needs and also demanded by employers and business will become not less important interdepartmental task which coordinator will be a ministry of digital development and information and communication technologies of the Novgorod region, – Stanislav Shultsev noted.
