CJSC "Motive" is the Russian developer of the electronic document management system. MOTIWARE offers its own solutions aimed at effective interaction of employees of any company, regardless of size and industry. MOTIWARE solutions are used by companies both in Russia and abroad - small and medium-sized businesses, construction companies, banks, production, retail, public sector, system integrators, etc.
The main activity of the company is the development, distribution and implementation of the operational management system of the company MOTIVE. For several years, the MOTIVE system has been implemented in hundreds of companies - from small ones with a staff of 5-10 people to large ones (the maximum installation currently has more than 1000 users).
History
2006
In 2006, work on the development of the Motive system continued, depending on current tasks, up to 100 people participate in it: more than 40 IVT employees (Institute of High Technologies) - developers, implementers, technical support specialists, dozens of third-party specialists in document management, workflow, business technologists, marketers and designers. Groups for system implementation and user training have been created. The project for the development of the Motive system is managed using the same system.
IVT, the developer of the Motive system, was not engaged in trading activities. Therefore, we have long underestimated the efforts that need to be spent to ensure mass sales of the system. I must admit that we made a mistake, tried to sell on our own and did not pay attention to the development of the partner network.
For 2006, these mistakes were corrected, the company began to build a partner network. We organized a technical support service, developed methods for introducing the product, created a balanced partner incentive program. In 2006, the Motive system was promoted on the market by 19 certified partners who trained specialists in this product, negotiations are underway with more than 40 companies.
Applications for the program come from abroad. In Russia, interest is mainly shown by Moscow companies, but demand in the regions is also growing rapidly. There are applications from Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
2005: First Box Product Sales
We created a solution for ourselves and were not going to bring it to the market, Dmitry Kin recalled in 2006. - And even when the program started working and showed its effectiveness, we did not think about making a commercial product out of it. But partners saw it, showed interest and wished to introduce it at home. At first, we transferred development to partners for free or as part of large projects. The Motive system was presented to the general public only at the beginning of 2005, after it was designed in accordance with the requirements of the modern market - it was translated into several languages, documentation was developed, installation issues on the main platforms (Linux, FreeBSD, Windows) were simplified as much as possible. Then the question of pricing arose. We put up a price that some market players accuse us of dumping. But this is not dumping, but an honest attitude towards what an enterprise needs to become managed. Our system is only 5%, the remaining 95% is the work that will need to be done by the enterprise itself.
It should be clarified that the "Motive," like any other system, does not in itself guarantee that the management of the enterprise will improve. The system can be useful only if the company is a team of like-minded people who are ready to make efforts to develop their business.
The first sales of the "boxed" product took place in January 2005. Many buyers became disillusioned with complex systems with incomprehensible budgets and difficult to predict cost of ownership. After all, as it happens - after buying a license for a software product, it turns out that it needs a special DBMS, it needs another OS, and it needs new hardware. We use shareware solutions. "
2001: Start of development of the "Motive" system
"The idea to develop your own program was born in 2001," Dmitry Kin recalled in 2006. - By that time, the holding already included many companies. Among them were firms engaged in the implementation of ERP systems, equipment assembly, network installation, system integrators, telephone operators and Internet providers, software developers, design studio, news agency. We are faced with a problem typical of fast-growing businesses - the problem of manageability of companies. This was especially acute when performing joint projects.
First, we tried to solve this problem using the solutions that existed at that time. But after six months of experiments, we realized that we need to create our own, system. On the one hand, we understood that it makes no sense to try to repeat the path that the giants of the industry have already passed, on the other hand, we saw that solving our problems requires completely different approaches.
Work on the "Motive" system began with the fact that they formed a list of the main requirements for it. There were ten and a half of them, almost all of them were obvious - this is the efficiency of obtaining information, the mobility of users, the documentation of the decisions made. From the very beginning, they decided not to overload the system with excessive functionality, but to implement the minimum that will necessarily be in demand, thereby reducing the cost of training their own personnel. Later it turned out that such a system is needed not only for us.
The ideology and fundamental principles of the system were formulated by a small author's group, based on the experience of introducing control systems. We set real and achievable goals, so the first version began to be operated in a month. "
