2025: Ryazan company "Grand Fleet" bought the fleet and property of the Murmansk Shipping Company

The Ryazan company Grand Fleet acquired the fleet and property complex of the bankrupt Murmansk Shipping Company for ₽3,1 billion, becoming the only bidder for the sale of assets of one of the largest Arctic shipping enterprises. This is evidenced by the information published on the Fedresurs portal in mid-August 2025.

According to RBC, the auction was declared invalid due to the lack of other applications, since Grand Fleet submitted the only application for participation in the auction. The purchased lot includes eight sea vessels, seven of which are pledged by Decision LLC, and one ship is pledged in favor of Baltic Freight Group LLC.

The acquired property includes the administrative building of the Murmansk Shipping Company, the Moryak hotel complex, land plots and parking areas in Murmansk, as well as land allotments in Moscow. The comprehensive sale of assets in a single lot was approved by the creditors' committee to maximize the value of the property sold.

Grand Fleet LLC was registered in the Ryazan region in February 2024 with the main activity of "sea freight transport." The CEO of the enterprise is Alexander Petrovich Polyakov, who heads a relatively young company created less than two years before the major transaction.

According to the publication, the decision to sell the fleet and real estate of the Murmansk Shipping Company at the auction in a single lot was made in April 2025. In 2023, the value of seven ships and real estate in the Murmansk region and Moscow was estimated at ₽2,7 billion, which is ₽400 million less than the total transaction price.

The Murmansk Shipping Company was founded in 1939 and for many decades was the leading transport shipping company in the Arctic region. The company provided freight transportation in the difficult climatic conditions of the North and played an important role in the development of Arctic territories.[1]
