2023: Loss of all assets after clicking on the malicious link
On January 15, 2023, the famous crypto investor and digital picture collector NFT God announced a hacker attack. As a result of the hack, he lost all of his digital assets.
NFT God (also known as Alex) tried to download OBS, or Open Broadcaster Software. It is an open source program for video recording and streaming. However, by mistake, NFT God clicked on a fraudulent advertising link rather than a link leading to the product's official website. One click reportedly changed his life forever.
It turned out that the victim's Twitter accounts were hacked. In a short period of time, Alex regained control of his accounts and deleted phishing messages, but this did not help. The NFT God crypto wallet was compromised and the address changed in OpenSea. As noted, at that moment NFT God realized that all its NFT assets and cryptocurrencies had been stolen.
Last night, all my digital livelihoods were stolen. Each account associated with me, both personally and professionally, was hacked and used for malicious purposes. Just as importantly, I've lost a life-changing amount of my net worth, says NFT God. |
The owner of the most expensive NFT collection was subjected to a phishing attack. As a result of the hack, attackers gained access to NFT God funds in the amount of approximately 19 ETH (about $31 thousand at the exchange rate as of January 23, 2023). It is said that the attackers' attack did not end with theft of funds: they sent phishing emails to approximately 16 thousand NFT God subscribers. Thus, now hacker attacks and social engineering attacks are susceptible to all those who are subscribers to NFT God social networks.[1]
