State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov (SZGMU)

A few words about the SMMU named after I.I.Mechnikov. Mechnikov Northwestern State Medical University is the largest training center for medical specialists in the North-West of the Russian Federation, as well as one of the leading medical and diagnostic centers in Russia. The main activities of the University are:

• training of citizens in the educational programs of higher, postgraduate and additional vocational education;
• carrying out basic, exploratory and applied scientific research, clinical research and testing;
• development and implementation of the latest scientific achievements, new methods of diagnosis and treatment;

2025: Kirill Ruslanov, who was responsible for the purchase of medical equipment, was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for bribes

The Smolninsky District Court of St. Petersburg sentenced the former head of the procurement department of medical equipment of the North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov Kirill Ruslanov to seven and a half years in prison. He was found guilty of 11 counts of receiving bribes for providing companies with advantages when concluding government contracts.
