The national legal university of Yaroslav the Wise (NYuU, Yurakademiya, before — the Kharkiv legal institute of HYurI of L. Kaganovich, after — the Kharkiv legal institute of F.E. Dzerzhinsky, then — the Ukrainian legal academy) — the self-governed (autonomous) state highest legal educational institution IV of level of accreditation located in the city of Kharkiv. The university trains specialists both for structures of the power, and for private, for bureau, etc.
Day, correspondence and evening forms of education are had. Graduates receive one of the following types of educational and qualification levels: the bachelor, the specialist (only graduates correspondence and evening faculties), the master in "jurisprudence". In a postgraduate study and doctoral studies of NYuU of Yaroslav the Wise preparation of the scientific personnel is conducted.

History
2013
By the order of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine of 12/4/2013 No. 1697 it is renamed into "The national legal university of Yaroslav the Wise"
2007
In 2007 the Academy in the National rating of the higher educational institutions "Top-200 Ukraine" took the fifth place among universities of Ukraine, and in group "legal" — the first. According to the rating of the Korrespondent magazine taking into account outputs of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and Confederation of employers of Ukraine by criteria of introductory tender (popularity) and demand of graduates in labor market the Academy is recognized the best legal higher educational institution. On December 14, 2007 the Academy became the member of the European association of the universities. Academy Vasily Tatsy heads over 20 years.
1991-2001
The Kharkiv legal institute was reorganized by the resolution of Council of Ministers of Ukraine of March 20, 1991 into the Ukrainian state legal academy. The decree of the President of Ukraine Leonid Danilovich Kuchma of March 30, 1995 No. 267 of academy provides the status of a national self-governed (autonomous) state higher educational institution, and the decree of November 4, 1995 appropriates a name of the grand duke of Kievan Rus' Yaroslav the Wise. The decree of the President of Ukraine No. 457 of June 21, 2001 "Questions of National legal academy of Ukraine of Yaroslav the Wise", considering a big role in training of specialists for public authorities, law enforcement agencies, different spheres of legal practice, proceeding from need of preserving and further development of the schools of sciences created in Academy, it is granted the additional rights with the approval of the status the cabinet of Ukraine.
1930-1937
In 1930 the Institute of the national economy was reorganized. Based on its legal faculty the Institute of the Soviet construction and right was formed that corresponded to its status as highest legal educational institution. In June, 1933 the institute is renamed into the All-Ukrainian communistic institute of the Soviet construction and the right. For the purpose of improvement of training of frames lawyers it in 1937 was transformed to the Kharkiv legal institute.
1920
In 1920 according to the decision of the Government of Ukraine based on the Kharkiv commercial institute and law department of the Kharkiv university the Institute of the national economy (HINH) is created.
1804-1835
5 on November (17), 1804 under the decree of the Russian emperor Alexander I the Kharkiv Imperial university which part department of moral and political sciences was was created. In 1835 it is officially renamed into law department of the university.
