2025: Construction of Potassium Nitrate Plant
Minister power, Industry and Communications of the Stavropol Territory Ivan Kovalev in January 2025 announced the construction of a potassium nitrate plant in the city of Nevinnomyssk worth ₽8 billion. It has been built and launch is scheduled for May 2025.
According to TASS, the new enterprise was built by Nevinnomyssky Azot, which is the largest chemical enterprise in southern Russia. The plant will produce potassium nitrate - fertilizer for feeding plants, actively used in agriculture.
The production capacity of the new enterprise will be 70 thousand tons of products per year. The main part will be water-soluble fertilizers - potassium nitrate, which is an effective source of nitrogen and potassium in plant-accessible form.
Oleg Shiryaev, General Director of EuroChem MHC, noted the high demand for these products both in Russia and in Asia, Central and South America. Up to 60% of production volumes are planned to be exported to Brazil.
The project also includes the production of ammonium chloride as a co-product, which is intended for neutral and alkaline soils. The new production will complement the existing range of complex mineral fertilizers containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
Nevinnomyssky Azot already produces a wide range of products, including ammonia, ammonium nitrate, carbamide, methanol and liquid nitrogen fertilizers. The company is the only Russian manufacturer of high purity melamine, methyl acetate and acetic acid.
The launch of new production is part of the industrial development program of the Stavropol Territory, in which ₽57 billion were invested in 2024. The region is also implementing projects to create corrugated steel production in the city of Lermontov and polymer pipeline systems in Budennovsk.[1]
