History

2022: Commencement of mass production

In Nizhny Novgorod, with the support of FRP, the GAZ Group plant began mass production.

The plant began mass production of high-quality castings for engines and other automotive components. The company's investments in the creation of this production amounted to 4.7 billion rubles, of which 500 million rubles is a preferential loan from the Industrial Development Fund under the Components program.

The plant in the format of a full cycle produces structurally complex large-sized cast iron castings of blocks and cylinder block heads for the configuration of internal combustion engines, casting of flywheels, brake discs and clutch discs, crankcases, gearbox housings, brake system components, etc.

The capacity of the plant is over 60 thousand tons of cast iron per year. Products are supplied to the Yaroslavl Motor Plant, Ulyanovsk Motor Plant, Gorky Automobile Plant, Kanash Automobile Plant and others. Technological capabilities also allow the enterprise to produce products for the needs of railway engineering, oil and gas and other industries. In addition, the Nizhny Novgorod Foundry will become the basis for localizing a light diesel engine, the release of which is planned at the Nizhny Novgorod site of the GAZ Group.

The creation of the Nizhny Novgorod foundry is a step for the industry and real import substitution in action. Already in May 2022, the technological capabilities of NLS allow Russian enterprises to receive high-quality domestic components for more than 300 modifications of power units that are equipped with a large range of equipment - commercial cars, buses, construction and road, agricultural equipment. NLES will become a platform where they will make castings for a small diesel engine, which has not yet been produced in Russia, "said Vadim Sorokin, president of GAZ Group.

The production involves up-to-date technological equipment that meets the latest standards of energy efficiency, environmental friendliness and productivity: an automatic molding line with a mixing system, melting furnaces and casting devices, a crushing chamber, rod machines, laboratory research equipment, a casting cooling conveyor, an automated casting cell and a robotic manipulator.

The heart of this plant is a 130-meter automated molding line. Its main advantage is the mixing system, which guarantees the necessary physical and mechanical properties of the molding mixture, obtaining a clear imprint of the future casting, as well as high productivity: forming and pouring one support takes only one minute. This equipment is capable of non-stop working in three shifts, providing a high level of quality of the produced casting, "said Viktor Kadylkin, director of the Avtokomponents division of GAZ Group.

2021: Start of production of pre-production casting batches

Nizhny Novgorod Foundry (NLES) was built on the site of the Gorky Automobile Plant in 2021. At the end of 2021, the company began the production of pre-production casting lots.

At the beginning of 2021, the automobile plant GAS"" with the help of another preferential loan from the FRP in the amount of 400 million rubles began mass production of medium-duty cargo of the cars last generation "Valdai NEXT." Earlier, only foreign manufacturers were present in the niche of apotless medium-tonnage trucks weighing up to 8 tons.
