North Caucasus Federal University (SKFU)

North Caucasus Federal University is one of the largest educational institutions in the South of Russia. More than 24 thousand people study at the university at the same time. Research work at the university is carried out in 13 research institutes and centers. 27 scientific schools and 47 scientific areas are represented at SKFU, 192 specialties of higher professional education are being implemented.

History

2025: Agreement with Geoscan to develop engineering education

On June 20, 2025, a cooperation agreement was signed between Geoskan and North Caucasus Federal University. The document enshrines the strategic partnership of the parties in two directions: the development of engineering education in the field of ALS and the creation of a student design bureau on the basis of the university.

The SKFU site will receive applied content: students will work on current engineering tasks, participate in competitions, hackathons and specialized events. This approach will allow the university to introduce a model of engineering training in a regional context and increase youth access to practical competencies in the field of ALS.

Student KBs allow students to be included in production processes from the first year. For two years in our design bureau we received more than 600 applications - interest in the format is consistently high. I am sure that the project will be developed at SKFU and strengthen the engineering school of the region, "said Pavel Stepanov, General Director of Geoskan Moscow LLC.

We are developing the direction of unmanned air systems in the macro-region in several directions within the framework of the cluster created under the Priority 2030 program: we create technologies, carry out research work to expand the spectrum of use of ALS, train specialists, and develop scientific infrastructure. The Geoscan Student Design Bureau has been operating since 2022. During this time, more than 600 applications were received, more than 500 technical tasks were completed and 40 students were employed. At the bureau, they solve Geoscan's real production and engineering problems in three key areas - electronics, 3D modeling and embedded development. The main goal is to involve students in industrial practice from the first year, providing them with experience similar to professional activities.
