2025: Launch of production of components for glucometers

The company "Innovative Enterprise Nova" put into operation a plant for serial production of components for test strips and glucometers in the city of Aleksin, Tula Region with a total investment of ₽268 million. The Federal Industrial Development Fund (FRP) has provided a preferential loan of ₽179 million under the Component Products program for the implementation of an import substitution project in the field of medical equipment for diabetics. This was announced on August 13, 2025 by the press service of the FRP.

The new enterprise plans to annually produce up to 658 thousand sets of components for glucose control systems and up to 4.8 million sets of components for test strips. Production facilities will completely replace imported supplies of plastic and silicone parts for Russian manufacturers of self-control products for diabetes.

The main consumer of the new plant's products will be the Irkutsk company MedTechService, which specializes in the production of blood sugar control systems. Prior to the launch of production in Aleksin, Russian customers purchased similar components made of plastic and silicone as part of contract production in Asian countries.

According to the enterprise, at the time of the start of construction of the plant, the share of imported components made of plastic and silicone among the main Russian customers was 100%. Previously, such parts were supplied from Korea, Thailand and China, which created dependence on external suppliers and supply chains.
