2021: Mishustin signed a decree on the creation of the SEZ "Novgorod"

In July 2021, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on the creation of an industrial-implementation-type special economic zone (SEZ) in the Novgorod region. It will be called "Novgorod."

According to the press service of the Cabinet, the area of ​ ​ the future SEZ will be 180 hectares, on its territory there will be enterprises for the production of drugs based on monoclonal antibodies, microelectronic products, semi-trailer equipment, as well as plants for the processing of rapeseed, the manufacture of heat and sound insulation materials.

Mishustin approved the creation of a SEZ in the Novgorod region for billions of rubles

It is expected that companies that have received the status of a SEZ resident will invest about 8 billion rubles in the region's economy, create more than 700 jobs. SEZ residents will be located on fully equipped sites and will receive a number of benefits. So, for a period of 10 years, companies will be exempted from property tax, transport tax. In addition, a free customs zone will operate on the territory of the SEZ.

The territory allocated for the SEZ is partially equipped with engineering and transport infrastructure. Regional authorities will take up its further arrangement. The cost of these works is estimated at 1.3 billion rubles.

The initiator of the creation of a new SEZ was the government of the Novgorod region. It will be located on industrial sites within the boundaries of the Novgorod agglomeration (Novgorod region) in close proximity to Veliky Novgorod and the M-10 federal highway.

Seven companies plan to implement their projects in the Novgorod special economic zone by July 2021, among them the manufacturer of microelectronic products of the Module Scientific Center and the manufacturer of trailers and semi-trailers of Gut Trailer LLC.

The government notes that special economic zones are being formed for the development of the manufacturing industry, high-tech sectors of the economy, tourism and port infrastructure. Placement in the SEZ gives the business a number of advantages. First of all - established infrastructure and communications. We are also talking about minimizing administrative barriers, tax incentives and customs preferences.^[1]
