Novgorod State University named after Yaroslav the Wise is the largest state educational institution in the Novgorod region.

History

2011:15 thousand students and high level of informatization

In 2011, more than 15 thousand students study at the university, more than 3 thousand teachers and employees work.

NovSU sees its mission in building an information society in the Novgorod region in demonstrating, using its own example, new opportunities and advantages of using information and communication technologies (ICT) at a modern university, as well as in promoting and disseminating its experience for Novgorodians.

The NOVSU corporate network currently unites all structural divisions with high-speed communication channels. In total, about 2 thousand computers, dozens of servers, network office equipment are connected to a common network and have Internet access via a high-speed 200-1000 Mbps channel. All educational buildings and hostels of NovSU have created zones of wireless WiFi Internet access, in which students, teachers and employees can work freely through mobile devices.

More than 150 educational institutions of the Novgorod region are connected to the New State University network and have free Internet access.

Much attention is paid to improving the skills of employees and teachers in the field of information technology (more than 500 people annually).

Thus, NovSU has created a powerful information and communication infrastructure that provides all the necessary conditions for obtaining high-quality education. In terms of the development of informatization, NovSU at that time is one of the best universities in Russia.
