2024: Firing all presenters and replacing them with artificial intelligence

At the end of October 2024, the Polish radio station OFF Radio Krakow was at the center of the scandal after replacing all its presenters with artificial intelligence. The radio station presented three AI avatars, which will now broadcast as part of the "first experiment of this scale in Poland." AI avatars are supposed to allow the station to entice younger audiences by using AI to discuss cultural, artistic and social topics.

Artificial intelligence is a threat to the media or are there still new opportunities? We intend to find an answer to this question, - said the editor-in-chief of the radio station Marcin Pulit.

This is a dangerous precedent that will affect all of us, "Demsky warned in his letter. According to him, such a modernization of the station will bridge the road "to a world in which experienced employees who have worked in the media sector for many years and people employed in the creative industries will be replaced by machines.

More than 15,000 people signed Demsky's appeal. Many people, including young people, do not want to be the subject of such an experiment. In turn, the station's advisory board said its members were "appalled" by the reorganization. The board said it would "strongly oppose any action that undermines the achievements and cultural heritage of the Krakow radio station."^[1]
