2023: The start of construction of a plasma production plant for 5 billion rubles
On May 18, 2023, in the Skopinsky district of the Ryazan region, the construction of the Oktafarma-Farmimex plant, which will produce substances and blood plasma preparations, officially began. The volume of investments in this project will exceed 5 billion rubles.
Andrew Smith, General Director of Octafarma-Farmimex LLC, took part in the ceremony of laying the first stone of the future enterprise. He stated the following:
Collection of plasma from local donors and its subsequent use as raw materials for production will make our drugs more accessible to Russian patients... Our project will create hundreds of jobs, as well as improve the social infrastructure of the region. |
Smith added that the enterprise "will definitely become one of the leaders in the pharmaceutical industry as the only one of its kind in Russia."
According to the layout of the future enterprise, the area of which will be 32,000 square meters. This will be a full production cycle plant, from the control of individual plasma donations, fractionation operations (plasma thawing, separation, concentration and production of intermediates) to purification processes to produce final products, including preparation of dosage forms, filling, lyophilization and packaging. The estimated design capacity of the plant is 1.2 million liters of plasma processing and more than 2 million units of finished products per year. The produced drugs are intended for replacement therapy, for the purpose of preventing and treating infections, for blood loss during operations, for the prevention and treatment of bleeding caused by diseases of the blood coagulation system: hemophilia A, hemophilia B, acquired insufficiency of coagulation factors.[1]
