2025: White Oils for Medicines and Cosmetics Launch

Gazprom Neft has established industrial production of white oils with full localization on the basis of domestic raw materials. The innovative project was implemented in March 2025 at the Omsk Lubricants Plant and is aimed at import substitution of critical chemical products.

The new technology provides for multi-stage purification of crude oil. The process of production completely removes harmful impurities, resinous compounds and aromatic hydrocarbons. White oils are characterized by a high degree of purification, lack of color and smell, chemical neutrality.

White oils are widely used in various industries. In the pharmaceutical industry, they are used in the production of medicines and medical products. In medical production, they serve as a component for the creation of lubricating and protective compositions. The cosmetics industry applies white oils in creams, lotions and other skincare products. In the textile industry, they are necessary for the processing of fabrics, and in food production they are used as lubricants that meet safety requirements.

General Director of Gazpromneft - Lubricants Anatoly Skoromets emphasized the importance of the project for the technological sovereignty of Russia. According to him, earlier the domestic market was mainly occupied by foreign white oils.

Production tests confirmed the high quality of the products. White oils were certified in the Eurasian Register of Food Lubricants and received relevant state standards. The first batches have already been sent to light and food industry enterprises.

The technical director of the plant, Maxim Petrov, said that production facilities will provide up to 30% of the needs of the Russian white oil market by the end of 2025. Quality control is carried out at each stage of the production cycle.^[1]
