2022: Opening stores instead of the departed Lush chain
On the site of the former points of the Lush cosmetic network, stores of the Russian Oomph are opening. Dmitry Azarov, co-owner of the Russian division of Lush, who is implementing this project with investments of 100 million rubles, told RBC in November 2022.
According to him, under the new brand, about 100 products will initially be produced: soap, shampoos, shower gels, candles. In the former flagship store Lush on Tverskaya Street, in addition to the shopping zone, a cafe will also be opened. The menu will mainly include pastries. It will be a partner of businessman chef-restaurateur Glen Ballis.
Oomph production will be located at its own plant in Domodedovo, but it will be expanded beforehand. According to Azarov, the company also considered the option of contract production, but in this case it turned out to be impossible to fully control the quality of goods.
Regarding the difficulties in the supply of imported raw materials under the conditions of sanctions, Azarov told RBC that by November 2022 the company has a sufficient supply of ingredients for production, and will also continue to look for alternative sources of raw materials. According to Anna Dycheva-Smirnova, a member of the board of the Russian Perfume and Cosmetic Association, in the current conditions, the new project has a number of advantages.
{{quote "The owner knows the preferences of consumers and will be able to start with stellar running positions, and his own production will make it possible to be flexible according to new products, this is not a blind job," the expert explains, adding that the main task of the brand is to activate part of the loyal audience that managed to save. }} Pyotr Bobrovsky, executive director of the Association of Manufacturers of Perfumes, Cosmetics, Household Chemicals and Hygiene, believes that partially the audience will be able to be preserved thanks to the remaining retail outlets.[1]
