2018: Atlassian purchased OpsGenie
At the beginning of September, 2018 the producer of the corporate software Atlassian Software Systems announced acquisition of OpsGenie for $295 million. This transaction will strengthen positions of the buyer in the software market for management of IT transactions.
Within payment of merger of OpsGenie the Atlassian company will pay $259 million from own means, and the remained amount will be transferred in a type of the actions attached to work indicators which will be shown by the sold company.
It is going to close the transaction in October, 2018. Atlassian calculates that acquisition will increase revenue in 2019 financial year by additional 1%. Considering that the company expected sale at the level of $1.15 billion, income in $11.5 million predicted from OpsGenie is gained.
Bloomberg emphasizes that acquisition of OpsGenie reflects the strategy of Atlassian on search of new sources of growth. The company, whose tools help developers to interact among themselves and to manage projects, aimed at the market of software for IT transactions which volume, according to forecasts of Gartner, will grow to $38 billion by 2022. In this segment as notes the edition, ServiceNow which , in turn, too interferes in the fiefdom of Atlassian — support of group software development is in the lead.
Commenting on OpsGenie sale, the cofounder and CEO Berkay Mollamustafaoglu said that the company is glad will join Atlassian.
