2023: Zimmer Biomet bought Ossis
On May 1, 2023, Zimmer Biomet Holdings announced a final agreement to acquire medical device maker Ossis.
Ossis specializes in making personalized 3D-printed implants. In addition, the company is developing solutions for complex hip replacement operations, including re-replacement and replacement associated with bone tumors and injuries. Ossis technologies enable rapid design and production of personalized implants.
In July 2021, Zimmer Biomet announced the signing of a partnership agreement with Ossis in the Asia-Pacific region. It was about the manufacture using the method of 3D printing of titanium hip joints for specific patients, as well as other operations to replace the pelvic bones. In December 2022, the cooperation was expanded to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The final takeover agreement for Ossis marks the continuation of a successful partnership and will allow Zimmer Biomet to expand its hip repair product range. The financial terms of the transaction and the expected deadlines for its completion are not disclosed.
The combination of more than 16 years of Ossis clinical experience and technical expertise with Zimmer Biomet's extensive network in Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa demonstrates our commitment to providing revolutionary medical products to patients in need. We are excited to work with these patients and their doctors as we work on our mission to alleviate pain and improve the quality of life of people around the world, "said Sang Yi, president of the Zimmer Biomet Asia Pacific Group.[1] |
