2025: Kazakhstan breaks contract for purchase of Otokar armored vehicles

In December 2025, Kazakhstan refused to purchase armored vehicles from Turkish Otokar.

The Turks failed their own plan to rearm the army of Kazakhstan with a thousand vehicles, providing no more than 5% of the order volume. It is noteworthy that for the sake of this transaction, the authorities abandoned armored cars of their own production.

Problems with the shortage of Turkish cars were immediately noticeable, in connection with which it was necessary to buy communication facilities in China, and now even turn to the Singapore ST Kinetics.

Initially, the Turks themselves set strict requirements for the purchase of several hundred machines and the construction of the Otokar plant in Kazakhstan. And in return they threatened with fines.

Moreover, in the local media, a campaign was launched to discredit the TTH of the Kazakh BKM "Arlan" against the background of episodes of the failure of the chassis on tests. And this despite the fact that Otokar cars had similar cases when armored cars left the flat road and showed breakdowns.

The lobbying for the purchase of Turkish equipment, which they managed to supply to the troops without paying customs duties and through shell firms, became obvious.
