Key findings from the global thematic community study:
- The COVID-19 pandemic changed the view of 73% of organizations on process management.
- In the pandemic, discussions are going on around the strategy of survival and ensuring sustainability, rather than reducing activity.
- Only 1 in 5 businesses feels confident enough in terms of processes to adapt to the new world.
- The scale of projects to improve business processes increased - 35% of companies launched projects of the enterprise scale, last year there were 24%.
- The value of transformation has grown in the eyes of the top management of enterprises - increasingly the CEO is responsible for the business transformation program.
- 53% of businesses do not expect budget cuts to improve processes compared to last year.
- Top 3 areas for investment in 2021: digital transformation, data analytics/business analytics, cultural transformation.
- Linking process improvement initiatives with business strategy at the highest level remains in the Top 3 tasks for 2021. This is an indication that senior management is often not well aware of how process improvement and business transformation initiatives can help achieve strategic goals.
The results of the survey are shown in graphic form. A brief comparative analysis with the report of the previous year gives an idea of the scale of changes and trends in the areas of process improvement and digital business transformation. The report is supplemented by comments from Russian experts to help understand the vector of changes and trends in digitalization in Russia.
"In connection with the trend of digital transformation, which was significantly strengthened by the COVID-19 crisis, tectonic shifts in the BPM area are taking place," said Anatoly Belaychuk, BPM-evangelist of Comindware, President of ABPMP Russian Chapter. - In 2020, we noted a growing understanding of the importance for the business of an integrated platform that would allow the free combination of digital technologies, including BPM, RPA, AI, chat bots, automatic process detection, etc. As we see, 29% of organizations are going to use the digital platform in 2021, which confirms the relevance of this trend, and BPM systems will continue to successfully play the role of a kernel in such platforms. The dominant trend in 2021 is the democratization of digital transformation. This trend covers civic development and, in general, involves a wide range of employees in the design of processes, process architecture, and new business models. " |
