2018: The beginning of installation of 4 thousand boxes with the AI doctors making diagnoses in minutes
At the end of November, 2018 the largest online provider of medical services in China of Ping An Healthcare and Technology told that he is going to set several thousands of AI clinics of the size of a public callbox and to extend them through the whole country in three years. The first such points of delivery of health care already earned.
Each clinic allows users to consult with the virtual AI doctor who collects data connected with health by means of text and voice interactions. After consultation with the computer collected information is checked by the doctor person who then sets the corresponding diagnosis and online writes out the recipe. Clients can purchase medicine in the vending machine of the same mini-clinic. Depending on complexity of a disease and detail of the story about a problem the diagnosis is made in several minutes or at most an hour.
Ping An Healthcare and Technology manages the largest online platform of medical care in China – more than 228 million registered users and 48.6 million active users a month by November, 2018. AI clinics will be based on developments of the company, including the Good Doctor application for smartphones which was started in 2015. The application allows users to communicate with doctors far off and also supports extensive base of articles on medical problems and a discussion forum in style of microblogs on the subjects connected with health. Besides, Ping An Healthcare and Technology founded online store where it is possible to purchase medicines, goods for health, cosmetics and gift certificates for medical services.
The cost of each AI clinic presumably is $5,000, however Ping An Healthcare and Technology intends to set hundreds of thousands of such "boxes" through the whole country in the aspiration to expand the influence in the growing market of Internet services on the continent.[1]
