Polar research institute of sea fishery and oceanography (PINRO) – scientific institution of the northern region of Russia, the successor of Floating sea scientific institute. It is founded by V.I. Lenin's Decree in March, 1921.
Since 1935 bears a name of the honorary academician of Academy of Sciences of the USSR N.M. Knipovich.
