The Krasnoyarsk business unit of JSC Polyus Gold, on behalf of Polyus Ltd, is the leading extracting division of the company and the largest gold mining enterprise in Russia.

Primary activity of the Krasnoyarsk business unit is made by development of the Olimpiadinsky field. Ore from the field arrives for processing on Olimpiadinsky GOK where for the first time in Russia the technology of biooxidation was commercially implemented.

At the moment the Krasnoyarsk business unit provides up to 75% of total production volume of gold of Group.

In addition to the extracting pits and Olimpiadinsky GOKA the prospecting batch is a part of the Krasnoyarsk business unit of JSC Polyus Gold. It conducts the prospecting works directed to refining of stocks on fields Fertile, Titimukhta, Cervine, the Quartz Mountain and also on the Panimbinsky ore node, the Zyryanovsky and Razdolinsky areas.

Since 2004 within the Krasnoyarsk business unit it was created and the research center as a part of 6 laboratories for scientific and technological support of projects of JSC Polyus Gold in all territory of Russia develops.

In July, 2007 the gold-extracting factory, largest in Russia, on processing of gold-bearing sulphidic ores is put into operation. The third queue of factory (ZIF-3) was put into operation on the Olimpiadinsky GOK of the company working at the Olimpiadinsky field in the North Yenisei district of Krasnoyarsk Krai.

Commissioning of ZIF-3 which design capacity is 5 million tons of ore a year will allow to increase the annual volume of processing of sulphidic ores by Olimpiadinsky GOK to 8 million tons. The total refinery capacity of Olimpiadinsky GOK will be brought to 9.5 million tons of ore a year. The new factory uses the technology of biooxidation developed in the company allowing to increase considerably the level of extraction of gold from persistent sulphidic ores. The technology of biooxidation is adapted to use in the conditions of Far North and is successfully applied on Olimpiadinsky GOK since 2001.
