2023: Gazprom's exit from Prometheus Gas capital

Gazprom withdrew from the capital of the Greek trader Prometheus Gas. Its sole owner was the Copelouzos Group. This became known on February 23, 2023.

On this day, Interfax reported with reference to the statement of Copelouzos Group, as of February 21, 2023, the group owns 100% of the authorized capital of Prometheus Gas SA. The parameters of the concluded transaction are not disclosed.

Gazprom sold its stake in Greek gas importer Prometheus Gas

By February 2023, the chairman of the board of directors of the joint Greek-Russian enterprise Prometheus Gas S. A. was the deputy head of Gazprom, general director of Gazprom Export Elena Burmistrova.

According to TASS, by February 2023, there are three main importers of Russian natural gas in Greece - the state-owned gas company DEPA Commerce, Mytilineos, Prometheus Gas.[1]

2016-2017

Natural gas supplies to Prometheus Gas under a contract with Gazprom Export began in October 2016, and in 2017 the companies signed a long-term contract for the supply of up to 1 billion cubic meters to Greece. gas per year from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2027. In 2017, Gazprom Export also began supplying natural gas to Mytilineos, one of Greece's largest industrial companies engaged in metallurgy, power and EPC projects. First, deliveries went on the basis of short-term contracts, and in June 2020, the companies signed a long-term 10-year contract until 2030.

1991-1996

Prometheus Gas S.A. was established in 1991 with the equal share of Gazprom Export and Copelouzos Bros Group Ltd to develop Russian-Greek cooperation in the gas sector.

Deliveries of Russian natural gas to Greece began in 1996 on the basis of a contract concluded in 1988 between Soyuzgazexport and DEPA, a Greek state-owned company selling gas to large consumers and gas distribution companies.
