2020: Project closure

The co-founder of PandaDoc IT company Mikita Mikado closed the project of financial support to the former security officers after arrest of employees and blocking of accounts. The entrepreneur told the Russian service BBC in the middle of September, 2020 about it.

This initiative, it is visible, was so successful that struck at my business thus — delayed four employees, blocked accounts of the company … If the purpose was to stop the help to the left security officers which was rendered personally by me, then yes, I do not want that still someone not involved in my initiative was put in prison — he reported.

It is about the Protect Belarus project which offered the security officers who left bodies financial aid, legal support and payment of courses of retraining. It was based at the very beginning of the Belarusian protests when as a result of tough accelerations hundreds of protesters appeared in insulators and hospitals. The initiative drew broad public attention — transferred more than $1.5 million to its support, and the request for receiving the help was left by over 6000 people.

These are innocent people. Everything that I did, did only from itself. And the fact that I did does not break the law. I helped to begin new life to people who refused to participate in terror, refused to beat — said the Mikado in an interview to journalists.

As one of founders of PandaDoc claims, the arrested employees had no relation to the project of the help to security officers, especially were not interested in policy and protests. He considers detention by attempt to put pressure upon itself(himself).

I suspected that there is a danger to me personally. There is a danger to my business. But I could not imagine that my employees will appear it is in danger — the businessman explained.

Earlier in Belarus the court arrested the director of the Minsk office of PandaDoc company Dmitry Rabtsevich and three other employees of the company. Embezzlement of budget funds is imputed to them.^[1]
