History

2025: Opening in Khabarovsk Krai for ₽4,7 billion plywood plant

The company "FPM Group" opened a new plant for the production of coniferous structural plywood on the territory of advanced development "Khabarovsk" with an investment volume of over ₽4,7 billion. This was reported by the press service of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation on October 16, 2025.

The company was implemented under an agreement with KRDV. The design capacity of the plant is up to 120 thousand cubic meters of plywood per year. Production is focused on the markets of Russia and Southeast Asia.

The company has created over 200 workplaces. New vacancies will ensure employment of the population of the Khabarovsk Territory. The development of the woodworking industry supports the economy of the region.

Over 80% of the equipment of the new plant was produced in Russia. The main technological partner in the implementation of the project was the Proletarian Freedom Plant from the city of Yaroslavl. Localization of equipment production ensures independence from foreign suppliers.

General Director of FPM Group Viktor Berdnikov commented on the launch of production. According to him, the plywood plant was the next step of the company to deepen woodworking. The project was implemented after the creation of three previous plants. Previously, the company built the production of lumber, veneer and fuel pellets.

Viktor Berdnikov noted state support for the project. The company was created under an agreement with the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation. The mechanisms of advanced development territories provide preferential conditions for business.

Roman Romanovsky, Development Director of FPM Group, explained the specifics of the products. According to him, structural plywood is a product that allows you to create the greatest value for the consumer precisely from larch. This wood species is most common in the Far East.

Roman Romanovsky emphasized the Far Eastern specifics of the project. Reliance on a Russian technology partner made it possible to implement the project under sanctions. Cooperation with a domestic equipment manufacturer ensured uninterrupted supply.[1]

2021: Iida Group bought 75% of RFP Group

In October 2021, it became known that the Japanese concern Iida Group, which is engaged in wooden housing construction, buys 75% of the largest forest company in the Far East, RFP Group. The corresponding petition was filed with the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia.

According to RBC, the transaction value could be $150 million. These funds will allow RFP Group to increase forest processing capacity, establish the production of elements of wooden housing construction, as well as refinance loans. According to another source, Iida invests more than 10 billion rubles (more than $140 million) in the development of the RFP Group.

Iida Group bought 75% in the largest forest company in the Far East

The remaining 25% of RFP Group will remain with the current shareholders of the company, a source familiar with the terms of the transaction told the publication. The perimeter of the transaction with Iida will include all forest and timber assets of the RFP Group. It is assumed that the transport assets of the company, including the Amur Shipping Company and the port of Blagoveshchensk, will continue to be owned by Russian shareholders.

Earlier in 2021, RFP Group announced plans to develop existing and create new timber processing industries with a focus on the Japanese market and with the participation of a strategic investor from this country. According to Roman Romanovsky, Deputy General Director for Development of RFP Group, entering the capital of a Japanese investor will open up prospects for the development of wood processing products for the holding.

By October 2021, the key assets of the RFP Group are Dallesprom, Flora and Amur Shipping Company. The company leases plots with permitted felling of 3.7 million cubic meters. m per year. RFP Group owns five river ports, its own logistics by river, sea through the Amur Shipping Company and 140 river and sea vessels, as well as the railway. Amur Shipping Company provides transportation of the holding's forest products to the main sales markets in the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.[2]
